September brought conversational advertising into Singapore and neighbouring markets, put more AI inside media operations, widened agent-development options and gave retailers new routes into AI-assisted shopping. The commercial opportunity grew alongside the burden of proving what the automation changed for customers and revenue.

## Executive read

ChatGPT advertising expanded across Southeast Asia and Taiwan. OpenAI began testing Sponsored Agents and added AI support inside Ads Manager. Google opened AI Max for Shopping as a beta, announced richer AI Max reporting and continued selected Search campaign upgrades. OpenAI also released a public beta for the Agents API and introduced GPT-6 Sol and Luna at lower API prices than the previous generation.

Each development gives a business more latitude: a new place to reach buyers, a new way to generate or route an advertisement, a new agent runtime, or a lower-cost model tier. Leadership still has to define the customer, approved action, public claim, conversion value and evidence that support the investment.

## September in one view

- ChatGPT advertising began rolling out in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan on 23 September.
- OpenAI announced Sponsored Agents and new Ads Manager assistance on 16 September.
- Google opened AI Max for Shopping as a beta and added text customisation, landing-page expansion and retail reporting controls.
- Google announced a future unified AI Max report connecting search terms, creative and landing pages; availability details were due later in 2026.
- OpenAI released the Agents API public beta on 10 September and introduced GPT-6 Sol and Luna on 22 September.
- Google’s Data Strength Uplift metric separated recovered conversion measurement from broader evidence of incremental commercial impact.

## Conversational advertising arrived in Southeast Asia

OpenAI announced on 23 September that ChatGPT advertising would begin rolling out in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan. The company said self-service access was available to eligible businesses, with advertisements shown on Free and Go plans while Plus, Pro and Enterprise remained advertisement-free.

OpenAI says advertisements are labelled, separated from answers and subject to privacy controls. Those are provider statements about product design. Advertisers remain responsible for inspecting the live placement, market eligibility, landing-page journey, customer response and commercial result.

For a Singapore business, the new surface adds a regional media decision. Product availability, fulfilment, language, pricing and customer-service promises require market-level accuracy before a campaign directs conversational demand to a seller.

## Advertising operations gained new agents and assistants

OpenAI announced on 16 September that it was testing Sponsored Agents with selected United States advertisers. It also described an Ads Manager plugin, AI creative suggestions, opt-in text customisation and a HubSpot connection. The company said its Shopify application was available in the United States and would begin international rollout where ChatGPT advertising was available from 23 September.

An agent that can help build or modify a campaign changes the approval path. The business needs a clear distinction between analysis, recommendation and an action that changes spend, audience, creative or destination. Generated text requires the same claim proof and landing-page consistency as copy written by a person.

## Google widened AI-assisted shopping

Google opened AI Max for Shopping as a beta in September. Google’s help documentation says it can customise product titles, expand final URLs to other commercial pages and serve additional text formats. It also provides brand exclusions, URL exclusions, term exclusions, messaging restrictions and retail-focused reports for generated titles, search terms, landing pages and expanded assets. Text customisation is currently limited to English feeds, and Final URL Expansion requires Target ROAS and text customisation.

The separate product name matters. AI Max for Shopping is a beta suite for Shopping campaigns; AI Max for Search operates inside Search campaigns. A retailer assessing results needs the exact campaign type, enabled features, feed, bidding strategy, tracking template and destination history.

Google also announced Merchant Center AI performance insights, Business Agent placements and cart-transfer testing on 16 September, with specific geographic and account limits. The practical input remains accurate product evidence: titles, attributes, price, availability, delivery, returns and seller identity.

## AI Max reporting and migrations required dated account records

Google announced on 23 September that a unified AI Max report would connect search terms with generated creative and selected landing pages. Google said availability details would follow later in 2026. It also expanded the AI Brief closed beta to Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish.

Google continued automatic September upgrades for eligible campaigns using standalone automatically created assets and campaign-level broad match. The Dynamic Search Ads sunset and automatic upgrade were deferred to February 2027. These timelines affect interpretation: a performance change can coincide with a setting migration, new reporting view, bid change or destination change.

Marketing teams need a dated configuration record. Confirm Search Term Matching, Text Customisation, Final URL Expansion, brand controls, exclusions and the migration date before comparing periods.

## Agent development and model economics changed together

OpenAI released the Agents API in public beta on 10 September. The company described a managed coding-agent harness, sandbox options, long-running sessions, tool search, programmatic tool calling and multi-agent support. On 22 September, OpenAI introduced GPT-6 Sol and Luna, with API prices described as 50 per cent lower than GPT-5.6 promotional pricing.

The provider’s architecture and price claims establish options, while the business still defines the task and risk. An agent that can search, call tools and run for a long session requires a narrower authority than a general request to “complete the work”. Cost comparisons also require the actual context, tool use, retries, review time and error consequence.

## Better conversion recovery still requires commercial evidence

Google introduced Data Strength Uplift on 10 September as a metric for conversions recovered through first-party data setup. Google presented causal experiments and marketing-mix modelling as separate tools for evaluating incremental impact.

Recovered attribution can improve the account’s view of performance. Customer quality still requires evidence about qualification, completed revenue, margin, retention and incrementality. Leadership needs that wider record before increasing budget.

## What should commercial, marketing and leadership teams inspect?

### Commercial and sales

Define which customer and outcome justify the new media or agent investment. Connect platform events with qualification, sales, margin and repeat value.

### Marketing and digital teams

Record campaign type, enabled features, market availability, generated messages, selected URLs, product-feed state, exclusions and conversion goals. Test dynamic landing pages and tracking templates before relying on automated routing.

### Leadership

Set authority separately for analysis, recommendation and spend-changing action. Require dated evidence for model cost, customer outcome, account configuration and any decision to expand budget or permissions.

## Full Court Press perspective

September added more places for AI to influence who sees an offer, which page they reach and which action a campaign values. Full Court Press helps leadership connect those platform mechanics to the official customer journey, accountable operating decisions and evidence of profitable demand.

## Common questions

### Can businesses in Singapore buy ChatGPT advertisements?

OpenAI announced rollout in Singapore on 23 September and said self-service access was available to eligible businesses. Eligibility, inventory and account access still require confirmation inside the advertiser’s account.

### Is AI Max for Shopping the same as AI Max for Search?

They are separate products. AI Max for Search extends Search campaigns. AI Max for Shopping is a beta suite for Shopping campaigns with product-title customisation, Final URL Expansion and retail-focused controls and reporting.

### Did Dynamic Search Ads automatically migrate in September 2026?

Google deferred the Dynamic Search Ads sunset and automatic upgrade to February 2027. September 2026 upgrades continued for eligible campaigns using standalone automatically created assets and campaign-level broad match.

### What evidence supports a larger advertising budget?

Use accurate conversion inputs, stable account configuration and customer evidence that shows qualification, completed revenue, margin and repeat value. Platform-attributed conversions form one part of the decision.
